ශ, n. The first of the seventh or sibilant class of letters. It is a palatal sibilant and its true sound is probably a light Sh as heard in the word Cession; but in general usage it does not differ from the dental ස. Some words are written either with ශ or ස.

ශ්‍රී·ධර, n. (ශ්‍රී Lakshmi &c., ධර possessor), possessor or Lord of Lakshmi, ap. of Vishnu,

ශිලා·ශාස්ත්‍රය, n. lithology, පර්‍වත පිළිබඳ විද්‍යාව.

ශීර්‍ෂාකෘති·පුෂ්පය, n. flower-head; කුසුම ශීර්‍ෂය.

ශ්‍රේෂ්ඨාධිපතිතාව, n. supremacy, presidentship, ප්‍රධානත්‍වය, අධිකරණය.
