ඒ, n. The twelfth letter of the alphabet. Its sound is that of the preceding vowel lengthened: as a in Fade, but somewhat broader, the initial sound of it being maintained throughout, without changing into i as the English sound does: consequently in English words it would seem somewhat inelegant. Its non-initial form is the same as the preceding, but lengthened by the addition of /?/ or ි to the consonant, as කේ ké (cay), මේ mé (may).

ඒඩ, a. deaf, බිහිරි.

ඒක වීරයා, n. a unique hero, an unrivalled hero.

ඒක දල, a. single-leaved, monophyllous, එක කොළයක්ම ඇති.

ඒත්තුගැනීම, v. n. accepting &c.

ඒකත්වකරනවා, v. t. to unify, එකසත්කරනවා, එක්කරනවා.

ඒකි, pron. fem. that one, she (woman or animal).

ඒක චක්ෂු, a. one-eyed, එක ඇහැක් ඇති.

ඒක ශෘංගයා, n. unicorn, කඟවේණා.
